“The first time radio was accessible in this region was in 1965. Batteries would be plugged in with
great excitement, the radio would be turned on and the sound of a folk song would spread to in
the houses.
My grandmother Munevver Hanım, who thought that the folk song that was played would stop and wait when the radio turned off, when a beautiful folk song appeared on the radio, her husband my grandfather Shamil Agha would call out: “”Turn it off, turn it off, we’ll listen when the guest comes!””
Anatolia is the name of the land where all the beautiful things are stored for the guest.
