The cultural house that business person Kenan Yavuz established in 2013 in the village of Beşpınar, where he was born and raised, on a total of 15 thousand square meters, of which 4 thousand 500 square meters is closed and 10 thousand 500 square meters open area, gained the status of “Official Private Museum” in 2019.

Despite the new type of corona virus (Covid-19) epidemic, 12 thousand people visited the Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum, which was established to embellish social memory and carry cultural wealth to the future by keeping the beauties that should not change.

Bayburt Governor Cüneyt Epcim, who visited the museum, said that Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum received the “European Museum of the Year Silletto” award, the most important award given this year by the EMF.

Stating that the museum was deemed worthy of an international award, Epcim said, “There are special awards announced by our Ministry of Culture, but Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum received the most important museum award this year under the auspices of the European Commission. “We would like to announce to all of Turkey that the prestigious award has been given to the Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum. We expect all citizens, culture and tourism lovers to our museum, which is deemed worthy of this important award.”

Underlining that the museum exhibits the living and preserving museum format in the best way, Epcim said:

“Especially the newly developing concept is experience tourism in museums. We set the road map of this place as a living, alive and developing museum when we were the chairman of the advisory board to the museum. We have set up this place with the format of ‘those who come to us live us’. We think that we have achieved success in this. We will try to take important steps towards making our museum a living, alive and developing museum. We want to introduce Bayburt’s cultural depth to the whole world through this museum.

Governor Epcim stated that Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum reflects not only Bayburt but also the cultural depth of Anatolia in the best way.

Pointing out that the lack of accommodation in the museum was also compensated by a good project, Epcim continued as follows:

Kenan Yavuz, the founder of the museum, said that the world’s most prestigious museology awards were given by the European Museum Forum, under the umbrella of the Council of Europe.
