Kenan Yavuz brings abundance to every point he goes. After signing successful projects at Haliç University, he has now accelerated the work of a project in Bayburt that supports the return to the village.
We had a new newspaper. In fact, its roots go back to the past. We need authors to voice new and different views. Kenan Yavuz came to my mind. – “Do you write with us from time to time?” I asked, “My author is for you,” he said. He was one of the most popular bureaucrats in Ankara in those days. Wrote. He did well. Fabulous articles appeared. He became one of the most read economy writers of the new newspaper. His articles were followed closely by everyone, especially those who were open to innovations.
In the following years, we were together with Kenan Yavuz in many panels, events and civil formations. But our most impressive partnership was the Bayburt trip. Kenan Yavuz was giving messages about his future while telling Bayburt about his past and traditions. In those days, there was no pandemic, but we were talking that agriculture would come to the fore very, very much. Kenan Yavuz, both as a business person and as a leader of civil society, is now preparing to bring Bayburt to the road by bringing his views, which were formed in those days, with life. Bayburt is now preparing to be the pioneer of a new step since Bayburt has become.
Look what Kenan Yavuz says:
– We have to feed people where they were born.
Is this possible? He explains:
– Yes it is possible. Now the feast of sacrifice is coming. The price for two sacrifices is equal to 10 thousand liras to 20 thousand liras each. The annual income of people who go from here and work 12 hours a day with minimum wage is equal to this figure, is it worth it? Also, there is no travel allowance here. It is possible to grow other crops. There is an aspect of moving from village to city in the past that is explained by social life. Now it does not exist either. We can watch the same movie at the same time. We are 25 minutes from the university. Of course I am not saying everyone should stay in the village. Our very successful young people go to the cities. Let him achieve success. They even go abroad. But it is not right for us all to go.
He argues that a great return project should be done. I totally agree and continues Kenan Yavuz:
Because we are in danger of losing villages and towns lately. This change, which can be called sociological trauma, causes us to lose our values. There are many opportunities in the villages as in the cities, but especially the youth and women do not want to stay in the village. Our young people need to be fed where they are born, so we all have to join hands and stop this wrong transformation. The population decline in Anatolia is an important problem that we cannot predict. The number of young people in the villages has fallen far below the acceptable limits. This is a great danger. The aging population is trying to feed the children and youth in the cities. Well, we have to ask what will happen in the future. Kenan Yavuz does not express all this as a discourse. There is also action. He built a second museum in Bayburt. A museum for production. Village houses, a mill, indoor and outdoor exhibition halls, and finally a traditional bazaar were built. In addition, there is an accommodation facility plan. It will be a living museum reflecting the characteristics of Anatolia and Bayburt. The plans for the return will be made in this museum.
And the museum to be opened with the threshing festival on the next 24 July. With the 3-day event, everyone will live 100 years ago. The people of Bayburt will be mowed, bonded, blended and will do many more traditional applications all together. And when they come back, they will talk about winning.
STUDIES FOR ECONOMY SECURITY SUMMIT
Kenan Yavuz is not only in Bayburt. The readers of this column learned for the first time that he was the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Haliç University. Now, a very important preparation is being made in that mission. Haliç University Economic Security Research and Application Center was established. Here, very important work will be done on product safety. In fact, a summit will be held next fall on the security issue that touches our lives in every field after the security pandemic.
